Above and Beyond, Empowering Kids To Wondrous Creativity

On September 16, 2023, Valley Art Association will host the 33rd Annual Forest Grove Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival. Sidewalk squares in downtown Forest Grove will be individually numbered and drawn on by people of all ages, ethnicities, and skill levels to create their works of art using vibrant colorful chalk.
There will be two opportunities to register for a square of sidewalk: Thursday, September 14, in the Valley Art Gallery (2022 Main Street) from 5-7 p.m., or at the big white tent in front of Valley Art on the day of the event, Sept. 16, from 8-4 p.m. Registration fee is $15 per square that includes a box of 24 different colors of pastel chalks. Valley Art’s members receive a $5 discount for each square purchased. You can become a member of Valley Art on the day of the event, online, or when visiting the gallery. Proceeds from this event help fund scholarships for children to take art lessons at Valley Art and for Forest Grove High School students who plan to pursue art education in college.
Valley Art Association has been a vibrant part of Forest Grove for over 56 years. It is run by volunteers who help in the art gallery, and with fund-raising events. 90 artists currently show their work in the Gallery. Valley Art supports working artists, encourages beginning artists, exhibits exceptional artwork and offers affordable art classes to the community.
