BASCO’s Lake Oswego Showroom, which opened just last year, carries the largest selection of the industry’s top luxury brands. “We sell products from all over the world. Unique product. Professional-grade product,” relates Cary Ely, BASCO’s Director of Stores. Some of BASCO’s highest sales volume comes from Wolf, Sub Zero, Thermador, Miele, and Bosch. “The way our Lake Oswego store is set up, you’ll be able to find the greatest collection of Wolf in the region.” He adds, “Miele has created a Meile Innovation Center in that store—one of only a couple on the entire western side of the United States, where they offer the complete breadth or their line.”

Utilizing the Lake Oswego Showroom’s live kitchens, the company hosted an in-house event in October for 125 realtors from Cascade Sotheby Real Estate Agency. The evening featured meals cooked by vendors along with appetizers and drinks. BASCO plans to create more local event partnerships and stronger ties with the schools and Lake Oswego community. “We’re looking at nonprofits and charitable organizations that we can help support,” says Chris McConn.
Recognizing the employees “first and foremost” for making BASCO Appliances such a great company, Cary Ely maintains that “everyone strives to get the best employees, but we really feel like we have them. Our sales team is beyond professional, very knowledgeable, very experienced.” Cary emphasizes that BASCO has “a lot of fun, a lot of [the] practical, and a lot of high-end products. No company’s been around since 1878 unless you know what you’re doing.”
The parent company, founded by the Cronin family of Portland in 1878, first served as a Harness and Saddlery manufacturer. Ever-changing with the times, in the early 1990s the family acquired Builders Appliance Supply Company (BASCO), and in the true innovative Cronin family fashion, “grew it into a prominent and successful enterprise.” Marty Cronin, 5th generation owner and CEO, is actively involved in the family-owned and operated business.
The Pearl Showroom in Downtown Portland brought BASCO Appliances to light as “a fully dedicated appliance retailer catering to builders, developers, and designers.” Additionally, BASCO’s Outlet Store offers an opportunity for customers to acquire luxury brands at a discounted rate and immediate availability. “Based on the success of our Lake Oswego store, we’re looking to continue expansion and always looking for the next new and exciting roll-out,” says Cary Ely adding, “Obviously, we’re always looking for great new talent!”
