Whether the occasion is a happy birthday, anniversary, wedding or, well, “just because,” Nothing Bundt Cakes in Hillsboro is all about bringing joy to their guests.
They may be a top-of-the-line bakery, but as owner Carla Mayes and area manager Kayla Gremillion explain, they’re really in the celebration business.
“And even more importantly, we’re in the people business,” says Carla. “I started in this business to make a difference in my community and for my team. It’s all about relationships, and making genuine connections with our guests.”
“We bring the joy,” Kayla agrees. “Most of our customers come in just because they need a cake, but we aim to be a one-stop celebration shop, with plates, napkins, balloons, and even retail gifts.”
Of course, cakes make a great gift all their own, and Nothing Bundt Cakes has made the classic Bundt cake into a highly expressive art form with their 10 signature flavors (and one additional featured flavor that rotates throughout the year), 5 sizes (8-inch, 10-inch and tiered Bundt cakes, Bundtlets and Bundtinis), and special decorations and messages for every conceivable occasion, from holidays and weddings to promotions and athletic achievements.
“I enjoy that I get to make people’s day all day long,” says Kayla. “We see a lot of smiles, and on the rare occasion that they don’t have one when they come in, we do everything we can to make sure they leave with one.”
Nothing Bundt Cakes was founded by Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz in their home kitchens in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1997, and it has since grown to more than 430 bakery locations in 40+ states and Canada, offering a modern spin on a classic treat.
Their Bundt cakes are handcrafted and hand-decorated in each bakery and carefully topped with their irresistible signature buttercream cheese frosting. Traditionally, Bundt cakes themselves are not associated with any particular flavor or topping, but more for their molded shape and that distinctive hole in the middle — which, as Kayla explains, has a very important purpose.
“That hole in the middle is for even baking,” she says. “It makes for a very moist cake.”
Carla, who opened a Nothing Bundt Cakes location in Beaverton in 2016, then expanded to Hillsboro in 2020, says she was drawn to the brand and its core values.
“It really fit what I was looking for in life, from using only fresh ingredients and real butter and cream cheese, to being part of the community and giving back,” Carla says. “The brand is also women-owned and women-founded. It’s a very women-forward brand, and I love being part of that.”
Nothing Bundt Cakes’ Bundtinis are bite-sized morsels you can get in a boxed dozen for an office party or special gift. Bundtlets are single-serving sized treats (get a free one on your birthday by signing up at nothingbundtcakes.com/eclub!). The bakery’s 8-inch Bundt cake serves eight to 10 people, the 10-inch can serve up to 20, while the double-tiered model (a favorite for wedding celebrations!) serves 30.
The most popular flavors at Nothing Bundt Cakes in Hillsboro are the Chocolate Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate Raspberry, Lemon, and Red Velvet — but why not try them all? Nothing Bundt Cakes can take orders in-store, online or over the phone, and can usually accommodate same-day fulfillment. And they deliver!
